HEAT RASH NEEDS YOU (POSSIBLY)

So, you guys know HEAT RASH, right?

It is our intention to include correspondence with you.

Do you have any burning questions about things Campesinos!?

I don’t mean the boring shit you can ask over at formspring.

But do you want any songs explained? Shit like that? Any detailed questions? Advice? Interesting stuff that’ll give us a chance to wax lyrical in reply?

Have any one of your songs ever made you cry relentlessly?

Matt StannerzJanuary 3rd, 2011 at 7:23 pm

How did you decide on your lineup? Like, when starting a band the two guitar, one bass, drummer and singer line up comes to mind, but you are an 8 piece and have your own style, how did you come to the decision this where you wanted to go musically?

gabiJanuary 3rd, 2011 at 7:24 pm

will u really answer that stuff??

JessicaJanuary 3rd, 2011 at 7:28 pm

What song are you most proud of writing and why?

Alex McKenzieJanuary 3rd, 2011 at 7:39 pm

You always seem to bring such brilliant artists to light.
But how did you originally get to where you are now? was it through gigging, sending out demo’s etc?

[edit] radioJanuary 3rd, 2011 at 7:41 pm

Your recent output has seen the band successfully broaden your musical horizons recently. Taking the band to a more sombre tone of music. I was especially taken aback by how different The Holy and the Ivy sounded to what we have come to expect from LC! Is this something we can expect more of?

BryceJanuary 3rd, 2011 at 7:57 pm

I have just a quick question, that could probably be answered via formspring besides the fact that I don’t have an account but, what do you intent to publish on the Heat Rash site, or is it a surprise?

Graham ClarkJanuary 3rd, 2011 at 7:59 pm

Is there an age restriction for being a fan of Los Campesinos? I am 43 and seen you three times? Is this ok or should I be spending my middle ages visiting garden centres?

BryceJanuary 3rd, 2011 at 8:02 pm

In your album, Romance Is Boring, you have the song titles:
200-102
Straight In At 101
Heart Swells/100-1
What do the numbers mean in the titles? Are they references to “The talking heads count down the most heart-wrenching break ups of all time”?

Do you have any plans to do a cool etching/coloured vinyl for your next record, like you did for Hold On Now…? And do you enjoy/collect vinyl?

RandyJanuary 3rd, 2011 at 9:45 pm

I am an aspiring artist and a devout fan of los campesinos. I’m just wondering what instrument you usually reference to with the other instruments, or do you just play, as the indie rock gods do the rest? Thanks.

DamianJanuary 3rd, 2011 at 10:39 pm

The Show-Me State and Sooner State. Anymore state nicknames gonna pop up? I’m thinking big things with The Land of 10,000 Lakes, America’s Dairyland, and Vacationland

When you are performing and recording songs that are as personal as yours, are you ever afraid that you’ll end up pissing some people off, ie the subjects of the songs?

ShaneJanuary 4th, 2011 at 12:34 am

Ok, exposing my musicological ignorance:

Harriet plays a repeating six-note figure between the verses of the All’s Well version of “101.” She didn’t do it live during the most recent North American tour, as far as I could hear. Why not?

timJanuary 4th, 2011 at 1:41 am

Is Gareth willing to play the love interest in the video to a potential Brandy / Monica ‘Boy is Mine’ cover by Elizabeth Sankey (Summer Camp) and Rebecca Taylor (Slow Club)? The whole world wants it to happen

RobJanuary 4th, 2011 at 3:41 am

what’s the motivation/story behind “in media res.”
definitely my favorite off the album probably because of the deep lyrics (which I admire).

BeckyJanuary 4th, 2011 at 10:40 am

will you post these questions where we can read them, such as the Heat Rash site?

PHJanuary 4th, 2011 at 2:19 pm

In regards to tracklisting, how long does it take the decide the order of songs for an album, and what is the process? Do you play songs in an order and tinker around until it fits well etc?

CynicalJanuary 4th, 2011 at 4:54 pm

What’s with the extortionate price? Seems like a massive marketing gimmick to me.

KyleJanuary 5th, 2011 at 1:00 am

What’s the creation process for y’all like? Like, do you write lyrics first and set them to a melody, or create lyrics for a set arrangement, or what?

BryceJanuary 5th, 2011 at 3:05 am

Why heat rash? What makes it so special? Why is it in a shape of the show me state? How do you come up with this?

RonJanuary 5th, 2011 at 4:19 pm

When is Heat Rash going to be mailed?

RobertJanuary 5th, 2011 at 5:10 pm

Was I the only one who saw this

I wish I could like comments like Roberts.

Make sure you vote for Romance is Boring in Triple J’s Hottest 100 http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hottest100/10/vote/default.htm

fintanJanuary 7th, 2011 at 10:35 pm

What’s your favourite song to perform live?

And WHEN ARE YOU COMING TO IRELAND AGAIN?

Andreas SachseJanuary 9th, 2011 at 4:27 pm

Will you ever come to Denmark? I believe we got a decent crowd for you in Vega – Copenhagen! :-)

peteJanuary 12th, 2011 at 1:20 am

some of your lyrics suggest that you’re bisexual or have had relations with men. is that the case or did you have some straight female input?

ShaneJanuary 12th, 2011 at 4:40 am

Probably formspring-level questions about boring technical stuff, sorry:

How hard is it to balance and equalize all the guitars//drums along with the (presumably quieter) glockenspiels and violin? Is one close mic all it takes? Are your soundchecks more complex than the proverbial four-piece act’s?

Have there been screwups? Nights when Rob’s banjo drowns out Neil and Tom? Ever run out of mallets on the road?

Was RiB the first time you’d included horns?

Lighter note: Have you considered embracing the world’s primal eldest misconception about your band and doing a track in Welsh?

TimJanuary 13th, 2011 at 12:24 am

Who does the album art?

Wendy CrimJanuary 15th, 2011 at 10:06 am

I’m actually from Missouri. Born there. Did someone actually have a heat rash in that shape? I love your band!

JohnJanuary 16th, 2011 at 6:37 pm

There are lots of football references in your lyrics – Does everyone in the band like football and if they do who do they support?

Your conscienceJanuary 17th, 2011 at 4:39 am

Budweiser? Seriously?

ChrisJanuary 19th, 2011 at 6:07 am

How did you get from the more innocent and poppier sound heard on Hold On Now Youngster… to the louder and seemingly more mature sound heard on Romance Is Boring? Did it change just as you developed as a band or was it an actual decision to make things a bit more forceful?

JordynJanuary 27th, 2011 at 2:40 pm

The specifics aren’t any business of mine, but my own ignorance of the basic music genre and influences have made me question how to distinguish the author and the narrator (lyric-wise). Is the poetic value of each song, or album maybe, based more towards personal retellings or the subjective states set in the context of each song?

brian barwickJanuary 29th, 2011 at 1:07 am

hey, Your Conscience, you’re a fucking idiot.

BrittonFebruary 8th, 2011 at 3:52 am

Is your music a creative outreach or a coping mechanism? It makes me feel clever by definition. Like it would be smart to feel so unhappy.

EthanFebruary 8th, 2011 at 7:22 pm

Your lyrics have a very novel-esque quality and I was wondering if there would any chance of a novella or short story collection in the future?
