An Update
Hello there,
It’s me, Gareth.
I thought I’d write a blog post to let you know what the haps are at the moment, as those of you who follow us on any one of a MILLION social networking sites that I type shit on, will likely be aware that our new album is all but finished and we’re very excited about it.
I know that a lot of people get frustrated during the period of time between an album being declared “finished” and the album’s actual release, so I thought I’d let you know what’s going on at the moment.
Right now, our main man and sound guru, Tom is exchanging final mixes with producer John Goodmanson, pruning every last note and drum hit to make sure every song sounds as perfect as it can.
“I think the lead guitar line treads over the vocal a little bit there, maybe pan it right rather than down the center”
All stuff like that that I’m nowhere near intelligent enough to hear without prompting. It’s so exciting hearing newer and newer mixes and the songs becoming bigger and better. Perhaps it’s presumptuous to think everyone will know what’s meant by mixing, so, without wanting to patronise:
Recording: being in a studio, playing the songs. Recording what’s played.
Mixing: putting everything that’s been recorded together. Making sure every part is at the right volume, making sure it sits nicely in the speakers or yr headphones or doesn’t sound too terrible when you decide to play it through YOUR SHITTY TINNY MACBOOK SPEAKERS. Ahem.
Next comes mastering, next week in fact. But even after recording and releasing as much music as we have, I still really don’t understand that. I generally just chip in with “make the gap between songs 3 and 4 half a second longer, maybe, idk?”.
So by the time of mastering, we’ll have nailed a final tracklisting, something which seems so close but is so important that it’s really hard to finally settle on something. And that’s why I would never dream of listening to an album on shuffle. They’re in that order for a reason, y’know?
This is one of my favourite parts of being in a band, though. I love writing the songs down in order, looking at how the songtitles look written next to eachother, and what story the titles alone can tell. Thinking how the narrative will develop across an album, and where the curveballs will come.
As this goes on, so does artwork. This doesn’t just mean cover art, but liner notes aswell. We’ve always taken great pride in our artwork and making sure our records are something worth owning physical copies of. This is the first time I’m handwriting the lyrics. It’s such a personal record that it seems completely appropriate/necessary.
In the meantime, we’re also working out Pre-Order Bundles. Stuff for you ‘normies’ and extra-special, exclusive stuff for Heat Rash members. A band like ours wants/needs as many people to pre-order the album as possible, so we’re trying to come up with stuff that you’d be silly to miss out on.
What sort of things do you want in a pre-order? What would you be excited by?
Oh and there are music videos and things to think about. A particularly troublesome matter, but one that will hopefully fall into place easily.
And then, of course, we have to be able to play the album live. We’re particularly looking forward to this. The songs are so massive and powerful on record, and I can’t even begin to imagine how much damage we could do with them live. Comewhat November (which is when the album’ll be released, and when we’ll be playing some proper (ie, non-festival) gigs) we’ll be a band with 4 records under our belts. It’s gonna be such a challenge to work out what to play. I hope we’ll be able to play much more varied sets, and I also hope we’ll have the balls to relegate some early-career set staples to the substitutes’ bench. This record is where we are now, as musicians, and as human beings, and I cannot wait for us to be able to present it to you.
Well, that’s quite a rambling post, but I thought some of you might like to be kept in the loop.
If you’ve any Qs (reasonable ones, obv) relating to this sort of stuff, feel free to stick ‘em below.
ATB (All The Best),
Gareth
ps. OH YEH, HEAT RASH UPDATE: as is probably clear, our commitments to recording an album/completing an album/playing festivals has slowed HR issue #2 down a little, but it really is very close to being finished, and I’m really proud of it. It’s a lot more focused than the first issue, the songs are wonderful and interesting undertakings and the written content is, I’d say, more personal and meaty. Thanks for your patience.
LC oyster card holder
The pre-order bundle should definitely come with badges. There can never be enough LC! badges in the world.
Pipe down Quigley.
Badges, sure. But badges ain’t EXCITING, are they?
This makes me very happy and excited. Can’t wait to hear it. Roll on November.
Gareth, what does ‘mastering’ actually involve? I kind of understand mixing, and recording is pretty straightforward, but mastering I’ve never quite got my head round.
Excited to hear everything come November.
What’s the plans for the artwork? If it isn’t done by Robert in the same style as the Heat Rash zine covers, i’ll have a hissy fit.
I’d suggest pre order heat rash members could get tees with the cover on too, or posters??? Or a few extra songs or something?
I, for one, would shed nay a tear if Y!M!D! were to be retired. HONY will always have a special place, but it certainly pales in comparison to WAB and RIB. So, needless to say, I am quite keen on hearing the new material.
IN OTHER NEWS
G, I was sent two copies of Heat Rash #1 by mistake. Is there any way to ship it back to you sos someone else can get a copy? I’m not trying to hoard them over here.
Also, I’d quite like Los Campesinos! Subutteo figurines – one with each pre-order.
Ollie – I still don’t really understand mastering myself. Tom does though, he’s dead smart. It just makes everything sound better.
Oh, right, and free Bud with every purchase.
NEW ALBUM FFFFFFFFFFFFFF <3
To answer your question about the pre-orders, I would love a bonus disc or bonus tracks if possible. For some reason I’m a sucker for those, and they are honestly my biggest incentive for pre-ordering. Excited for HR2!
Sorry for moving to Sunderland bbz. Thanks for the update though.
Yours Forever
John

Single coming out? Please tell me, if yes, there will be a cheeky B-side to enjoy too? Say yes.
Stuff that would excite me? I’ll probably be picking up the album on vinyl, and I’d really like a proper vinyl booklet, rather than the CD booklet in the vinyl slip a la RIB. That’s generally… in terms of pre-order stuff, I really like physical stuff. I still wear my WAB/WAD badges regularly, so something like that would probably be cool. I do loves me some solid things.
I’m so bloody excited.
Ben – yeh, that’s a good point re: vinyl sized booklet, and something we’ve looked into in the past. The booklets that go in the vinyl, generally speaking, are made at the same time as CD booklets, and are identical.
Have you any vinyl records which have larger booklets? As I recall now, the only 12″ in my collection with an over-size booklet is Give Up by Postal Service. Actually, the Glow by the Microphones, too, but that was an expensive re-release.
More often than not I find rather than creating something bigger/better for vinyl releases, bands will just include a low-budget single sheet of paper or something.
But, I would love to have bigger booklets within the vinyl. It’ll up cost significantly I think, but I’ll look into it. G
Rick – sure, there’ll be a single. It seems odd though, that you’d be excited about a B-Side to a single which’d be released at the same time as an album, because surely any song used as a B-Side at that time would be a song deemed not appropriate to go on the album, and in that case, quite likely, inferior? G
I love that you take tracklisting so seriously, shuffle kills records. Will you be debuting some songs at Bestival? Thanks for the post.
Tom – we’ve been playing one new track live, a song called ‘The Black Bird, The Dark Slope’, but we’ll likely not play any others until these shows in November. Festivals aren’t the best place to test-run new material as it’s generally accepted that people want to hear ‘The Hits’. As well as that, these songs are gonna take some working out, so we’ll probably do some intensive rehearsals comewhat October, and we’ll need to save up to buy some new gear too. G
Remember those Looney Tunes crisps you could get with the characters printed on them?
LC crisps.
I lost one of my WAB WAD badges. I’d like to see some posters and a LC! cookbook filled with your favourite home recipes.
Also I still can’t get into the Heat Rash discount section of the store. It fails to recognise my email address, anyone else have that problem? I’ve emailed but haven’t had any reply.
No way!
I can’t agree. It’s a bonus for buying a single that will more than likely go on a record the following record, that’s all.
I don’t think a track is inferior just because it don’t fit a mood/style set on an album. A song can, as you know, be loved on its own.
++ I remember you once saying Too Many Flesh Suppers was one of your favourite LC! tracks.
*It’s a bonus for buying a single that’ll be on a record out, more than likely, the following week.
Will the album be released on vinyl?
Woo woo! I was stuck on a train the other day, and opted to spend my time relistening to the last three albums – now really looking forward to the next one!
In terms of freebie pre-order schizz, WABWAD had a rather nice selection of things that came with it. Failing that, sweets.
Yeh, Rick, I see your point, but if you look at our track-record for B-Sides, TMFS being good/worthwhile is very much an anomaly.
Also, you’re making assumptions about certain things (eg when a single will be released in relation to an album), so I think I’ll have to pull rank on that.
In all honesty, singles in themselves aren’t really aimed at die-hard fans of a band (although we obviously want to make them enjoyable for those people too). Singles, hopefully, will gain a band radio air-play and encourage people new to a band to buy their full length album. G
Just a load of free things included for poor people who love you? D:
Will you be touring the states again with the new album. Saw you in Houston last October. It was a dreadful turnout, but I great show.
Badges. Badges are always exciting, especially if they’re exclusive to the pre-order or Heat Rash Subscribers.
Test presses would be cool, too. Yeah, they’re plain and there’s not much to it, but for a vinyl junkie/diehard fan it’s the perfect addition to their collection.
I’d like a poster with my pre-order. Or those cool postcards. Something that I can stick on my wall… I’m a bit embarrassed of my Chili Peppers poster
Your albums have got better and better with each new release, so I’d certainly welcome relegating some HONY material to the bench – i.e. you can drop “You! Me! Dancing!” and “Please don’t tell me to do the math(s)”, but NEVER drop “This is how you spell…” or “sweet dreams, sweet cheeks”.
Ta.
I usually find that vinyls either completely omit a booklet, or print it on the slip. It’s definitely uncommon to go the oversized route – the Marvin Gaye reissue my mum bought recently has one, nothing I own does – but it is really, really cool.
Megan – yep, US tour before long.
Winston – re: test pressings. So few of these exist that it would be pointless/impossible to involved them in any pre-order deal. I’ve never got the intrigue with test-pressings. Just rip the labels off a proper release of the record and pretend it’s a test pressing, nobody will know better!
Ed – we’ve not played ‘Math(s)’ for years. And however tedious ‘Y!M!D!’ is to rehearse, it’s always really fun to play live because of the reaction it gets.
Ben – I reckon Marvin Gaye reissues can afford to spend a little more on vinyl booklets than we can, but like I say, I’ll look into it.
G
I would love a colorful vinyl! Sprinkled or something. And maybe an exclusive packaging. For example: Portugal. The Man’s – The Satanic Satanist (http://www.lodownmagazine.com/index.php?page=25&modaction=showItem&id=983)
Maybe some percentage of preorders could have a handwritten lyric sheet/signed pics or posters, or some other sort of ‘raffle’ type deal?
Some other stuff that might be cool for HR preorders: tshirts, stickers, keychains, behind the scenes DVD (if you’ve got any making-of footage)
Also, no shitty laptop speakers here: I’ll be listening on my AKG k701s
I suppose you’re right about playing The Hits at festivals, I’ll be looking forward to seeing you play regardless though. It’s cool that you’ve worked with John Goodmanson again, could you see yourself ever recording without him for a record now? And did you have a choice not to do the Bud advert or was it out of your hands? Please please please play Brighton on your tour!
I know, I know…
Pre-orders should come with an up-to-date LC! paper chain.
Maybe a DVD with the preorder in the style of the WAB WAD one? I appreciate this is maybe to late to suggest it as filming would have had to have been done during recording but i’ve always loved Ellen’s mini tour ‘documentaries’.
Also maybe an exclusive pre-order poster or something? One of those fancy ‘art print’ ones that some bands do. I realise it’ll be reasonably expensive to do but you can also charge a premium if it’s properly printed/limited etc. Plus you’ve already got Rob who could draw it!
It might be too late for this, but what about some sort of DVD? I love albums that come with live/studio/tour/generally funny footage.
As a gear nut, what new stuff do you need to purchase for the shows?
Could I please have a lifesize poster/model of Richard from Copy Haho with my pre-order? Thanks.
When yr first two albums came out I was a depressed loner uni 1st/2nd year. When RIB came out I was a junior in uni still hiding from the real world with my own slew of mental and drug issues. Now with this new album coming out I’ve got a real life, real apartment, and make a solid amount of money. It’s all weird really… Throughout it all I’ve still never once hesitated with LC! being my favorite band. It’s pretty amazing how in many ways I feel your music has grown with me and my points in life.
tl;dr http://files.sharenator.com/Shut_up_and_take_my_money_Gues_what_this_is-s500x313-149402-580.jpg
How about a signed album for the pre-order deal sure it would take time but it would be so much more special for the people that brought it.
i have no idea whether it would be practical, but something like beulah did with their last album (yoko) where it came with a bonus disc of the album in acoustic demo form. Not necessarily as suited to a sound like yours, but something along those lines maybe?
or some kind of little poster (“handbill” sized, i think they call it) or screenprint would be great, also. The artwork for the first edition of heatrash (the zine rather than the 7″) was brilliant, and that sort of style would be suited to the kind of thing i mean.
Have a presale t-shirt with the album cover on the front, song list on back so they kind of look like tour dates. Maybe even have the cities where the songs take place! A poster would be pretty stellar also, maybe signed for Heat Rash members? And when you come to the States, come to Indiana!!! Preferably Bloomington! I have been a fan for two years but haven’t been able to make any of the shows and it physically pains me.
Posters!
Posters/artwork and some vinyl for the pre-order bundle, and a gig guide for the tour? Possibly a chance to get tickets before everyone else does?
Can’t wait to hear the album and get my hands on Heatrash#2!
As far as bonus material goes, you guys should write a funny short story about the band or make a film of some sorts to put on a bonus disc.
Also, t-shirts are always nice.
[...] anuncio no fue la excepción. Fue el mismo vocalista de la banda, Gareth, quien escribió en el sitio de la banda un largo post donde revela algo muy esperado [...]
An in-depth track-by-track overview of the album, that would be amazing. (although at the same time I could understand reluctance to include that)
I like the updated paper chain idea, something wearable is always cool, too. A shirt or something else similar would be rad!
If you come back to the grog shop in Cleveland for the.tour I honestly don’t mind if the presale comes with a flaming bag of dog excrement.
Put songs that you didn’t make the album on a bonus disc for the Heatrashees, “Flesh Suppers” is brilliant and I’d hate to miss out on this album’s equivalent or have to buy it off iTunes just to hear it.
PATCHES and more patches.
A LC! sew on badge would be pretty cool it’d be nice to be able to literally wear your love for LC! on your sleeve, sometimes doing things metaphorically just doesn’t cut it. Alternatively a LC! football kit or cookie cutter.
LC! temporary tattoos are something that would encourage me to pre-order.
Deluxe digipak with loads of badges!!! Artwork always looks better on a digipak rather than in a normal CD case. I hope your playing Manchester. I cant wait for the album, heat rash 7″ and gigs

Gareth,
I don’t know if this is beyond the scope of work that you guys can put into pre-order goodies (likely), but I’d love a simple, personalized note from someone in the band–maybe just a “thanks” or something of the sort. I keep the slip of paper on which you wrote down some album recommendations for me at a show in the jacket for my WAB WAD vinyl (The Soft and the Hardcore is ace, by the way), and every time I slide the record out for a listen I’m reminded of the simple, personal connection that I had with the band; just to know that the musicians I’m listening to thought about me in particular at some point in time makes the record somehow more enjoyable. Maybe that’s just cheesy. Maybe I’m just a cheeseball, constructed purely of cheese and irrational feelings of positivity. At any rate, something to think about.
Signed stuff – that’s totally doable, obv. I’m always surprised that’s something people are into, but it’s of course dead easy for us to do.
Paperchain – not in a million years. That’s one of the most embarrassing things we’ve ever done, we’re not that band/those people anymore, I’m afraid.
Patches/ Sew On Badges – I’ve wanted to do an LC!FC football badge for a long time, and hopefully that’ll happen with this album’s merch.
Jack – “I’d hate to…have to buy it off iTunes just to hear it”. Heaven forbid anyone should have to pay money to hear our music…but I suppose I get your point.
Spike – pretend you had temporary tattoos but they’ve been washed off. (y)
Track by track – we’ve got really good plans for this.
Thanks for all your suggestions! Feel free to keep ‘em coming. It seems you’re all easily pleased, but we’ve got some good ideas up our sleeves.
G
All I shall say is below up LC members I think this would be awesome ohh things I’d make you do muahhahaha
@john above, why not just make it a whole tour of Ohio…Love to see LC! in Columbus
Ohh a LC football would be cool and an exlusive team camp footie/tshirt
I’d *love* an LC! teatowel. Basically, any sort of LC!-branded kitchenware would be incredible.
What I’d really like, what would make me pre-order from your band but not necessarily from others, is a mixtape. The songs/bands who inspired and influenced this album along with some narrative about how and why.
Legally it’s tricky…so do it on Spotify if you feel the need to be all legal and such. Whatever it takes.
OK, I had a think.
Most interesting thing would be a different ‘trinket’ from the recording studio with the first 200 preorders. Broken guitar strings, plectrums, doodles. Try to avoid bits of food and cigarette ends though…
Also, signed polaroids?
I’m sure this has all be done before mind.
Courtney – yeh, a lovely idea, and one I’ve thought of in the past, but like you say, legally it’d be tricky and unfair to ignore. As for Spotify, I’m not really a fan of it myself. I know lots of people are, but I’ve never really gotten along with it. Also, it wouldn’t really be very exciting to provide a link to a spotify playlist as part of a pre-order. Bit of a rip-off if you ask me.
But, separate from pre-orders, it’s something I’d really like to do. I’m considering starting to do podcasts on mixcloud (completely legal, bands get PRS) if it’s something people would be interested in.
Thanks for your suggestion. G
A LC! zip-up hoodie would actually make me incredibly happy. I’ve got a zip-up that I wear all the time, but the zipper broke recently, and it’s really starting to show its age…
What if you did somthing like on those willy wonka movies were there was a golden ticket in product… that would be interesting.
Colored vinyl?
T-shirt bundle?
Limited edition poster?
I know that with the newest Fucked Up album, “David Comes to Life” those who pre-ordered got a bunch of rare singles, and were able to stream the album a while before it was properly released. Maybe something like that for HR members?
Also, I know JoFo recently included a JoFo frisbee with their latest EP, maybe include something completely random and never before thought of, but at the same time something people would find cool.
OR maybe LC! toothpaste or something absurd like that.
Agree with the personalised stuff
Polaroids?
Hand-written lyrics would take forever to do, but what about if when people preorder they give their favourite LC! quote and that could be handwritten(?!)
Oh! Beer mats with the LC/bud logo!
definitely an lc football shirt. i know i’d happily pay extra for it. with the heat rash sign in the badge. that’d be awesome.
as long as there’s stuff from rob that’ll be awesome. maybe a full-sized poster or something.
just something different. i really loved the angle johnny foreigner were coming from with their frisbee-ep.
even if it’s just socks or something.
Will Canada (Montreal) be included as part of your tour? I really hope so. Looking forward to seeing you again.
Please come to play in New Zealand.
Ta.
A Welshman. x
Honestly, as someone who got into LC! -just- after Romance is Boring came out, I’d be happy with anything, really! It would definitely be great to have an LC! badge to pin next to my Dresden Dolls one.
I can’t really think of anything new to add, though!
A quick question, though, how do I acquire some of the b-sides? It doesn’t seem like many of them are available on iTunes, and I would always love to hear more LC! songs. I don’t want to illegally download them: I’d feel really bad about that.
I would love anything personal from the band. Hand written lyrics, signed albums, a photo of you signing said album (the photo should be signed as well), or anything of that nature. I am sure it is too late for this album, but it would be really exciting to get a behind the scenes DVD of the band. It seems fairly typical of you guys to bring along a video camera on tours. It would be neat to get a DVD of you all on one of your tours with commentary from all of you. You could show/talk about exciting moments, fun memories, band history, or anything else you might want share with your fan.
The favourite LC! lyric (@alex) would be seriously rad. Otherwise, a poster/postcards/artwork (a calendar?) is always a treat.
I’d be absolutely enamored with anything I could wear on my person that shows my undying adoration of LC!
Shirts, Hoodies, badges, Sew-on patches, Underwear (for sparking up bedroom conversation, of course)
P.S. Do you remember back when the LC! store had hotpants? Will you ever have them again?
Gareth!
Yes yes yes! Please start doing podcasts, twould be soooo good. You lot have already indirectly introduced me to some of my fav bands. – Mixtapes/ podcasts/ whatever, would be gold.
Preorders?? I was fascinated by the handycam ‘behind the scenes’ ish footage from the wabwad dvd package – Watched it so many times, I found it awfully intriguing/intimate & very exciting.
Come to New Zealand before one of us dies. x

As you like football what about a set of football cards/stickers, you know Panini style. Could be called Campesini. Design could hark back to the retro 70′s style of players like Stan Bowles, Frank Worthington, Kevin Keegan, George Best etc (ask your parents kids). An era of football that had some cool haircuts and characters. The back could include a bried biog of each band member. The legendary Sultans of Ping issued some ‘Pingini’ football cards with one of their singles. A nice little collectable.
Badges, stickers, posters, thank you notes, maybe a HR membership card or something similar? (not to rip off F&THs idea), perhaps old LC! memorabilia lying around LC!HQ, random mix CDs, coloured vinyl… nope I’m all out of ideas now
An LC! notebook/journal thingy would be awesome, maybe using a composite of different album artwork & band photos (live or otherwise), calculators with a case that has “don’t tell me to do the math(s)”, bikinis or speedos with “the sea is a good place to think of the future” on the bottom and an iphone exclusive spell check app, called “We are all accelerated readers”. Lame, I know, but I would sadly buy most of these….except the bikini that is.
i know tom’s the primary songwriter, but i’m curious, how much involvement do the other band members see in the songwriting process, if any?
also, this isn’t a suggestion for the pre-order bundle, but i’d really like to get to know what music and bands the various members of los camp are favoring these days. you guys did individual albums of the decade lists a while back – that was a fun read.
this just occurred to me: i loved your acoustic ep, and i’d love more recordings in that vein. probably not for the pre order, as i suspect doing arrangements and new recordings constitute too much of a separate and significant undertaking. i just mean, in the future, i’d love for you guys to do that again.
definitely tshirts/posters! also like the idea of a sort of behind the scenes type thing, interviews or something? people always want to feel like they can get to know the members of a band they really love! cant wait for november, will be going to your gigs at every oppurtunity, havent heard you play live since 2010, its been too long!
Hey real quick. I don’t mean to spill my guts but this seems like the right place. You guys have (since i first heard death to los campesinos my sophomore year of highschool, and always will be my favorite band.) You have seriously inspired me with your creativity, positivity, and amazing music. I Just recently (about 3 days ago) started a record label based in houston texas. it was really just so my band could put out our music ourselves. but the more we thought about it, the more we decided we wanted to start a community of like minded artists, who want to see Houston become a decent music city. Anyway i just wanted to say that we are going to be working our assess off the next couple of months trying to make this happen. I would love to help you guys, down here. What kind of promotional, street team type stuff would you need?
one other quick thing, i want to be able to edit that last post, cuz i’m noticing all the errors.
I don’t know how possible it would be but I love Rob’s art work some thing with that on for the preorder? Perhaps a poster/ T shirt or even some kind of small comic book. Going along with the football angle perhaps some kind of Sparky “Roy of the Rovers” style Los Camp comic where one of you LITERALLY gets to score the winning goal for Malta (or something more relevant to the new album). That might be a really fun thing to own?
Podcasts and mixtapes would be excellent as I’ve found out about a lot of great music from your various covers (like Frontwards), and bands you’ve talked about on the blog.
Maybe you could do what Johnny Foreigner did and have the name of fans on the cover-art for a single/7” from the new album?
Also, artwork from Rob!! Or maybe Rob can even design the badges?!
For the pre-order how about releasing a bonus dvd featuring a short documentary on your music, exclusive interviews with band members and footage from a couple of songs done live all on one nice dvd. That would be amazing for a pre-order.
I’d probably have to say that a rarities ep would be pretty freaking awesome, maybe some studio outtakes, demos, and all that.
Oh also,
Are you planning to tour Australia? I know you feigned interest on twitter a while back, but I need to know! Also; if they are over 18 gigs, I will be shattered.
Bonuses for me would probably be any cheap physical crap, anything would get me excited. And/or a bonus disc/EP of a couple/few acoustic tracks or stuff that didn’t fit well with the album but is still good.
don’t know if anybody has said this already , so apologies if they have … what about a golden ticket winner … free gigs for life ?
love the idea of an LC footy by the way
Sheet music for piano and guitar tabs would be so good!
LC footy badges!!! Wa-hoo! I’d love a LC football shirt (possibly in Barca’ colours or classic Ajax kit?) but obviously that’d be a bit much as a pre-order goody. Badges are good but the best two pre order goodies I ever got were a Radiohead car sticker and a cool artwork box that you could collect the singles for with the release of the Cure’s wish album.
Not sure how I’ve missed this blog in the past, just want to say a few things: a podcast would be awesome, also as far as preorders go : wearables and signed stuff always catch my attention.
I really hope you guys will be able to make it over to Sydney, I know its a big and expensive ask. Love from Elena (ur last fm top listener)

Fold-out posters are definitely good news, as are badges, pre-order t-shirts etc.
In terms of CDs, don’t put it in a plastic slip case. I hate them. For all the work and thought that gets put into the album, plastic cd cases make them feel so impersonal and soulless. (Loved the WAB!WAD! box though!)
That said, my opinion on CDs pobably doesn’t matter as I’ll probably buy the vinyl. It’d be sweet if the vinyl came with a download as well though. I buy vinyl because it’s the physical format I prefer but I’ll definitely listen to it mostly digitally.

(your hair for voodoo optional)
I’d say definately keep whatever the pre-order bundle is within limits of tangible stuff. Digitals are abit “simple” – unless they’re links to merch exclusive for the pre-order.
What I would personally be eternally grateful for are guitar tabs for certain songs (like those in HR #1). Could go along with some sort of extended booklet, perhaps?
A behind-the-scenes short like on WAB WAD would be great, as well.
PS: Does anyone out there, Campesinos! family or not, know where I could find some solid tabs for the acoustic EP?
I think it would be really interesting if with Heat Rash/Pre-orders you offered very limited re-runs of past merch such as posters and shirts
So, you know how on DVD’s you get directors commentary’s with the actors and such. How about a seperate disc or download which features the entire album but you and the rest of the band talking about the music as it goes along in the background. A bit like a live track by track, obviously improvised.
Just a thought.
I love the patches (or badges) idea. All strangeness aside, what about a lock of hair?
things that i might like in a preorder as a hr member:
coloured vinyl
gatefold with pictures and stuff
singles/b sides
sunglasses
stickers
pins/buttons/badges/patches
poster
GUATEMALAN WORRY DOLLS what a genius idea from tom!
coasters/coozies
socks
towel
stories/comics
book/booklet with pictures etc.
signed copies
lighter
bottle-opener keychain
any of that would be radical
I’d like to see a full blown documentary. Ellen could shoot it. It could be about learning the songs and then playing them live, or about the album, heatrash, etc. Just have Ellen film everything for a couple of months, edit it, box it up and send it to me. Thanks.
i really love your music, i hope you get to see this clip i made featuring one of my fav songs: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-legendary-yr-12s-of-2011/267829759910246?sk=wall#!/video/video.php?v=272285586118635&oid=6674863867&comments¬if_t=like
How are you ever going to get three more issues of heat rash out by the end of the year?
How about a teddy! that sings! (only LC! songs)and talks! and he could wear a LC! football jersey! Or eyepatches . . .maybe. . .
